Our difficult tests lead to our biggest blessings…By Kathleen

Today I was on the radio.  It was an interview with Elisa Parker of See Jane Do, on KVMR radio station.  The subject was about sexual assault/ molestation.  It was about women survivors who have gone on to do incredible things in the world to empower and help heal other women.  It was six women’s stories woven together.

I was the last one.  I have to say I was holding my breath and feeling anxious as I listened to the other women waiting for my prerecorded interview to air.  This was the first time I had talked about it publicly.  I had made mention of it one other time on Elisa’s show.  When my part did air I had a sense of relief.  It felt like breaking the silence was a huge key that unlocked something powerful.  In the dark things keep perpetuating.  But by breaking the silence and denial it is like throwing that bucket of water on the wicked witch.  She melts!

Part of my interview was about flying home last May to Salt Lake City and having a deep and difficult talk with my mother before flying to Canada to be part of a conference with the Nobel Women Peace Laureates on Ending Rape as a Tool of War.  I had a realization to change anything “out there” in the world that I must first start in my own life.  I needed to address the denial we have had in our family.  I told my mother I needed to have my voice set free now to speak the truth and help others.  I asked her “mama can you stand behind me and be my ally.?”  She said “yes, yes I can.  What happened?” I had come to her 15 years ago telling her about the years of sexual molestation by my father.  My mother and sisters weren’t ready to hear that.  They told me this couldn’t have happened, it didn’t happen in our family.  Now 15 years later, how we have all grown!  I told my mother that I loved her with all my heart and I would choose her to be my mother again.  I knew that all that had happened to me was part of the life path I had signed up for in this life.  It was my path to take the deepest darkest and bring it back up to the light.  There were no mistakes.

My mother listened with all her heart.  She wanted to know everything and asked me the hardest questions.  She was no longer in denial.  She was courageous and fully present.  Then she said “I am so sorry this happened to you”.

What I have learned through my experience:  I know that our light is incorruptible.  The light that we are is always there.  There are only things that happen that make us temporarily forget our light and who we truly are.  Part of the game on planet Earth is remembering what we have forgotten.  Knowing that the bad things that happen to us are not us.  They are not who we are. There is no shame. Our job is to remember how to love ourselves unconditionally with all our heart.  Because only by loving ourselves can we truly love others.  We also get to remember to forgive ourselves; forgiving others is simply an extension of forgiving self.  We get to see that the people that have shown up in our lives that have tested us the most have helped to mold us into the incredible people we are today.  There is no such thing as “victim” only victorious.  Each moment we have the choice to create an amazing life for ourselves!  With all of this I feel an overwhelming gratitude that is hard to contain in my heart, it truly spills over.

It can be a hard time on our planet.  We may find ourselves tested and broken open to find our deepest truth and let go of false illusions that the material world will bring happiness or make us “safe”.  This is the time that we get to find our inner truth.  Listen to that small still voice within to guide us.  This is our time to find our deepest courage.  A time to let go of our limiting beliefs of separation.  Our separation to our divine self and believing that it lives outside of us.  Realizing that we are the Divine having an earthly experience.  Remembering our connection to all life; the plant, mineral and animal kingdoms and to each other.  Remembering power is not “power over” that destroys and creates separation.  True power is the power to be who we truly are and create what is life affirming for all.  In this connection we see how we truly are all one family.

No U-Turn

by Kathleen

We had a wonderful workshop here at MoonBear Sanctuary over the weekend. We were in touch with our highest self and our guides. Everyone was having profound experiences in the mediations. Then one beautiful young woman shared that all of this so deeply resonated with her heart and soul. But when she got back to her life in L.A. with her intellectual friends she was afraid that this would disappear, go away. She feared not being able to hold on to the truth and the wisdom in her everyday life. Then “Farmer John” as he had endearingly been nicknamed spoke with such eloquence and passion and humor. I wish I could have had a recording of him! He spoke about being in that place of trust and openness and that place where magic effortless occurs. You ask for what you need and it is immediately given. He had some great stories of creating the opening for this weekend to be possible and had all of us smiling and laughing.

From the Guiding Signs 101 Card Deck. No U-Turn:
No, you mustn’t turn back.
Keep your focus; stay on track.
The way forward is straight ahead.
Trust your wisdom; you are being led!

Think of a time when you were going down the road to a new destination. Sometimes you found yourself traveling through unfamiliar terrain. The No U-Turn card is telling you to follow that mystery. You might be tempted to turn back to what feels safe, familiar, and comfortable, even though you know you’ve outgrown that place and you are being called forward.

It’s comfortable to stay in the past because there’s a safety in what you know. But it means you’re not growing or unfolding your deepest gifts and talents. It takes courage to allow yourself to be in the mystery of the unknown. It’s like a seed germinating in the darkness. In that darkness you don’t see what is happening or what the next steps are going to be. You have to be in a place of trust so that the seed can grow.

The No U-Turn card is a call for you to dare to go forward into the unknown instead of staying in the familiar. If you’ve drawn this card today, make sure you stay on the road to your truest journey.

BE-AMing: our greatest power

One day I realized that our greatest power is BEing who we are and getting to BEAM or BE-AMing that out into the world.  Society does everything it can to have us conform into a square box even if we are a round peg.  Advertisements blare that you need a certain brand to wear, special vacations, all the “right” things.  Magazines tell us what is “in” and what is “out” certain colors or fashions or fabrics or looks.  Our parents often tell us what we need to do or be to be successful from the structures of their world.  If they are in mainstream it might be to be a doctor or lawyer.  If they are in the spiritual world they have that view of the path you need to follow.  Layers and layers of filters are placed over the bright light we were born into this world with.  All these layers make that light duller and duller.

Explore the road aheadOur brightest light is being who we are.  Not who others want us to be, no matter how perfect that is in their world.  My ex-husband wanted me to keep the spiritual, healer, person that channels Mother Mary locked in a closet and for it not to be seen.  One day the need to be who I was was so loud I couldn’t ignore it.  I could not NOT be me on all layers of my existence.  Meeting spiritual or healing friends on the side once a week was not enough.  It had to be the fabric of my existence.

If we aren’t showing up authentically in the world then who is being loved?  If we don’t love ourselves enough to be who we truly are how can we expect anyone else to love us…. they never have a chance to see the true authentic person.  Real freedom and liberation comes from being who we truly are and not caring if it fits in with what others think is “cool” or acceptable.  It is who we are!  Our deepest power is not power over another or others as is demonstrated in a Patriarchal society.  Our deepest power is BE-AMing our deepest essence authentic self into the world.  We are each as unique as a snowflake never to be replicated.  This is our power!

It’s all an INSIDE job……

It’s all an INSIDE job……
Being loved.  A parent didn’t have enough to give you what you needed in the department of love.  A partner wasn’t there or betrayed you.  Then one day you realized the ONLY person you could count on 100% to be there to totally unconditionally love you – was YOU!!
The Kingdom of Heaven truly does lie within each one of us.  We have the wisdom inside of us.  We have the intuition and inner knowing.  We have the power.  We are the expert.  It is time to turn inward and let go of the old societal conditioning that someone outside of us has the knowledge; is the expert.  We truly are the ones we have been waiting for.  It is us, it is now.  It is here.  It is within.  No need to look elsewhere.
That is the essence behind the Guiding Signs 101 cards.  The intention is to be a bridge to help you to remember and to build that inner muscle of listening and intuition and your very own innate wisdom.  They have been designed in a playful and fun way as that is the path to creation!  Have fun, play, go deep and explore and discover your wisdom.

No Parking

I had been in and out of a relationship with a boyfriend four times. I had just led a women’s journey to the rainforest in Ecuador. While there I drew reversed butterfly twice in a row from my Medicine Cards. The message was that it was time to make a change in my life. As I went to bed that night I asked for a dream to clarify what the change needed to be.

I dreamt of being in a taxi with my boyfriend, going on an international trip; we were going to listen to the Dalai Lama. My boyfriend was in the front seat and I was in the back seat. He had on eye shades. I put my hand on his chest and told him I needed to get out of the taxi; I didn’t have my passport and I hadn’t packed a suitcase. I knew when I woke from my dream it was time to have completion and that our relationship was over.

Before leaving for the rainforest trip we both had meetings in the Bay Area and had spent the night in a hotel there. I noticed he had backed his car into a parking space. I backed in next to his car. That was at 11pm in the dark. The next morning when I went to leave I had a parking ticket for nearly $300. I hadn’t seen the blue paint on the handicapped parking space. Upon returning home I went to his house,  intending to break up with him. He was really down, sensing something wasn’t right. He had made me a beautiful dinner. I ended up not breaking up with him, and spent the night there.

The next morning at the crack of dawn there was a horrible noise from a garbage truck. When I departed and went to get into my car a few hours later, I saw a note on the windshield and the back and side of my car smashed in. The garbage truck had hit me. I hadn’t seen when I parked late that night that I had parked in a red zone!! I threw up my arms and said “OK, I get it!! This is not where I am suppose to be parked!!!” I was staying past the life of our relationship and I was being shown loud and clear.

Exit

After I graduated from college in business and textiles, the job market was at an all-time low. I was living in Utah and I decided to get a season’s ski pass to Snowbird. I worked a few nights a week as a cocktail waitress at the newly built Hilton hotel. Three years later and with another degree in Education and I was still doing what was only going to be a temporary thing. One day while waitressing I had a horrible headache and all I could focus on was the green EXIT sign.

It seemed to be growing larger and larger and practically blinking. It seemed to be calling me…. “It is time for you to EXIT, you are finished, complete here.” I immediately knew it was time to pursue my career and to move to Los Angeles where there was more of a fashion industry than in Utah! So I did!

I later went to work as a sales representative for Levi Strauss in the late 1970s when women were just starting to enter the workforce. I was rookie of the year one year, and sales representative of the year for the Los Angeles region the following year.

E Pearl Street

My friend, K’Lea Andreas shared this story with me.

‘After a healing session, my client Randy was a little disorientated. He was visiting, Jackson Wyoming, and didn’t know his way around town. He ended up turning down the wrong street. When he noticed this he pulled over. He realized he was distracted by a question he was thinking about. He closed his eyes and asked “Am I meant to do The Reconnective Healing training? Please give me a sign.”

E Pearl StreetWhen he opened his eyes the first thing he saw was the street sign, E Pearl. Dr. Eric Pearl is the name of the man that teaches The Reconnective Healing course! That street sign is the only E Pearl in Jackson.’
